Online Role Models

How Can We All Be Great Role Models For Our Children?

Our children look to their parents, teachers and family for their natural cues for how to behave.  We have all been in a situation where we have recognised ourselves and our words coming from our own children, particularly when they are picking up our habits and mannerisms.

With that in mind it is important that we understand that our online habits also affect our children in the same way.  By trying to be a good role model and having balance in our own , online lives we can set a great example for our children as they learn about the technology around them.  It is never a bad idea to look at our own digital habits from time to time and check whether our own usage is balanced.

Is your presence online a positive one?

A digital footprint, or tattoo, includes all the information about a particular person that exists on the Internet as a result of their online activity.  For those of us who are heavy users of the Internet that footprint can be substantial, so it is important to make sure it is a positive representation of ourselves.

These tips from the UK Safer Internet Centre are a great starting point for ensuring you maintain a positive presence online. Click on the image to access the article.
